Rebellion and rebel filmmakers at the “insolent festival”. International Film Festival TOFIFEST revealed first secrets of the programme during a special press conference on Thursday, 6 May. We became acquainted with new poster, website and motto, which says: “Because everyone has a rebel inside”.
Retrospectives of a Greek “cinema revolutionary” — Costa Gavras, and British “enfant terrible” — Ken Russel in the “Camp Not Dead” section are two of the elements revealed at the press conference foreshadowing the festival which starts on 26 June. This is the 8th edition of Tofifest. For the 8th time it is going to show insolent cinema, taking sides in a discussion on contemporary world.
In 2010 full-length competition, the most important part of the festival, changes. Starting from this year it is called ON AIR and it is devoted to the presentation of debuts and second films of directors from all over the wold. For the first time total prize for winning the competition is 10,000 euro, including 5,000 euro founded by the Marshal of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship for the best film of the festival and another 5,000 euro founded by the director of Polish Film Institute for the best director. Moreover, Tofifest is going to present two more competitions: SHORTCUT — short film competition and FROM POLAND — Polish competition.
Journalists were shown a new festival website, aimed at collaboration with social networking medias, new poster designed by the Homework studio from Warsaw and a new motto: “Because everyone has a rebel inside”. “It is because everyone used to have it, has right now or will have”, said Kafka Jaworska, festival director. The unofficial logo of the festival is still “the film orange”.
