Young music bands, DJs, and VJs can now officially sign up for the two competitions that accompany the 12th edition of the Tofifest IFF: Audiowizje Showcase and "Muzyka do nakręcenia". Both competitions are organised as part of the Audiowizje section that this year is an accompanying event to the Tofifest IFF.
Audiowizje is a Torun-based festival that has been around for two years and focuses on the innovative concept of video game soundtracks and on promoting young music from Poland. This year, in a never-ending effort to find new ways to extend the programme of the festival, the organisers of Tofifest have invited the authors of Audiowizje to collaborate, the effect of which is adding this event to the programme of Tofifest 2014. This way, after many years of supporting young filmmakers, the Tofifest IFF has also given young musicians a chance to show their talents. The originator of Audiowizje – promoted with the Hear the image, see the sound slogan – is Patryk Lewandowski, a young musician from Arouser.
Muzyka do nakręcenia (roughly translated as “music to make a video for”) – the first of the two competitions, co-organised with NuPlays.pl and TlumTlum.pl websites – is addressed to musicians and filmmakers. The idea is simple: musicians register their tracks on the NuPlays.pl platform and internet users choose the best of all the tracks. In reward, a team of filmmakers selected by TlumTlum.pl will make a professional music video to the winning song. The video clip will be shot during the four-year Audiowizje workshops at the Tofifest IFF. The premiere of the video clip will take place on Onet.pl. You can find detailed information here. The deadline for musician to sign up for the competition is 30th September.
The other competition is Audiowizje Showcase, which is dedicated to the visualisation of music, and all music bands, visual artists, DJs, and VJs are welcome to take part, regardless of the music genre they perform, on the condition that they will prepare a concert with visualisations. The Showcase competition will take place on stages of the four clubs associated with the Tofifest festival (Dwa Światy, Carpe Diem, NRD, and Kulturhauz). The audience will get to select the best bands and visualizations to be awarded with cash prizes. The deadline to sign up for this competition is 19th September. Details here.
The Tofifest IFF is called a “rebellious festival” and it has been around, since 2003. The festival focuses on ambitious cinema “with a sparkle”. Every year, we can watch more than 150 productions, divided into four competitions and between ten and twenty other sections. The festival has already played host to the following guests: Geraldine Chaplin, Ulrich Seidl, Jim Sheridan, Jiri Menzel, Emanuelle Seigner, Shirin Neshat, Bogusław Linda, Janusz Gajos, Jerzy Stuhr, and Krystyna Janda. The main prize of the festival is the Golden Angel, which makes reference to the medieval symbol of Torun – the city of Tofifest. This year, Tofifest and the accompanying Audiowizje will take place from 18th to 26th October.
