Audiowizje, an innovative music festival based on interactions between sound and image, will have its first edition at Tofifest 2014. The motto of Audiowizje is “hear the image, see the sound”. As many as 30 young music bands from all around Poland will compete for the main award in the Audiowizje Showcase contest.
All bands will give concerts in the partner clubs affiliated with Audiowizje Tofifest, from 21st to 25th October. Each group giving a performance, as part of the Showcase contest, will be accompanied by visualizations. The groups participating in the contest represent a wide range of musical genres, from ambitious electro, to metal. Showcase is supposed to be a sensory proof that image very often harmonises with music, during concerts says Patryk Lewandowski, creator of Audiowizje. He also added that Showcase is supposed to motivate music bands to work on the visual aspect of their gigs. Winners of the Showcase contest – the Best Band and the Best Visualisation – will be selected by the audience.
The other thread of Audiowizje is Muzyka Do Nakręcenia, i.e. unique workshops that combine film and music. During the workshops, a film crew supervised by the outstanding documentary filmmaker and photographer Bogdan Dziworski will make a vide clip to the music of the band selected by Internet users. The tlumtlum.pl and nuplays.pl websites are co-authors of the contest.
Patryk Lewandowski has also revealed the concepts behind the Audiowizje Festival: It is a combination of sound and image, by which we demonstrate their inextricability. It is music accompanied by vision and image that has a sound. It is all about what is visual in the musical aspect and musical in the visual aspect. This festival will alert your senses and show that they interact, and also reverse the existing order of things and boldly call upon you to see the sound and hear the image. But first and foremost, it will combines and create a space for creative audiovisual expressions and impressions.
Audiowizje Tofifest will be accompanied by a number of special events. Wieczór Dziwnego Kina (An Evening with Strange Cinema) will show films that are strange, to put it mildly. Guests will try and answer the question why people are capable of sacrificing a year of their lives to make a film about lethal telephones, or two years to make a black and white film about a lucha libre wrestler that fights a mummy and robots? The guests in this section will be Tomir Dąbrowski (director of The Attack of the Killer Phones Part I) and Dawid Gryza (co-founder of Kocham Dziwne Kino/I Love Strange Cinema festival). The meeting will be accompanied by screenings of films by Tomir Dąbrowski. The audience at Audiowizje Tofifest will also have an opportunity to meet the PSYCHOKINO collective composed of Dorota Piskor and Tomek Ślesicki. The collective have made some highly appreciated video clips for such musicians, as: Bokka, Dawid Podsiadło, Sorry Boys, or Ania Wyszkoni.
Audiowizje Tofifest will be held from 21st to 25th October in Torun, at the Festival Centre in Od Nowa club, and in partner clubs: Dwa Światy (the official festival club of Tofifest IFF), Estrada Stagebar Torun, Kulturhauz, NRD Klub, Galeria i Kawiarnia ,,Muza”.
