Poland has five Oscar nominations

Poland has four nominations for the Academy Award and the fifth for the Polish specialist in costumes. Such success in Polish cinema was not yet! Among the nominations for the 87th Academy Awards were: Ida by Pawel Pawlikowski, Our curse by Aneta Kopacz and Joanna by Tomasz Śliwiński.

 

Ida will be fought in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Joanna and Our curse in Best Short Film Documentary. Nomination for Best Cinematography received Łukasz Żal and Ryszard Lenczewski fo Ida.

We have already an Academy Award nomination for Best Costume Design for the Polish costume designer Anna Sheppard Biedrzycka-Sheppard. She made costumes for Witch directed by Robert Stromberg with Angelina Jolie in the lead role. Polish Oscar nominated costume designer receives a third time. Previously, she was nominated for Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List (1994) and Roman Polanski's The Pianist (2003).
