Sunday, 16th October, marks the second day of the festival. Below is a report on what has happened today and what is to come on Monday.
Monday, 17th October
We would like to invite you to meet-the-author sessions that involve guests of Tofifest.
Following the screening of “Godless” (at 6:30 p.m., the Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki), there will be a meeting with its director, Ralitza Petrova from Bulgaria. Her début film brought her a Golden Leopard – the Grand Prix Prize of the Locarno IFF, and an award at the international film festivals in Reykjavik and Sarajevo | Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki
Following the screening of “All These Sleepless Nights” (at 7:00 p.m., at the Centre Cinema), there will be a meeting with Michal Huszcza and Krzysztof Baginski, the two main protagonists in the film by Michal Marczak. The film offers a peculiar analysis of a generation of contemporary 20-year-olds. Marczak has made a name for himself in the world of film festivals with his sensational “Fuck for Forest”.
Following the screening of the second portion of films competing in the SHORTCUT competition (it begins at 7:00 p.m.), the audience at Tofifest will have an opportunity to meet with Lika Yatkovskaya, the author of “Drawing Class for Adults” (approx. at 8:30 p.m., Od Nowa Club – Big Stage).
There is also a number of films to recommend. “Cosmos”, which is the latest film by Andrzej Zulawski; “Hawaii, Oslo”, made by Erik Poppe, a special guest of Tofi 2016; and “Motór” by Wieslaw Paluch, which is also the first historic winner of the first ever edition of Tofifest. The latter of the three will be screened as part of the Polish Independent Film Classics section.
And finally, starting at 10:00 p.m., there will be a DJs by Night party at the NRD Festival Club.

Smarzowski, Smoczynska, Mudyn, and the Egyptian revolution – a Tofifest Blog LIVE from the festival
We have a press team that provides a non-stop live footage from teh festival. Take advantage and read what our strong team has written for you. That day, we had Smarzowski, Smoczynska (“The Lure”), the trio of Mudyn-Kopec-Janicki (“Nauka chodzenia”), and a review of “Clash” that competes in the festival. And we have an excellent quotation from the mentioned review: “Imagine that you need to spend many long hours with the stench of Molotov cocktails.” Highly recommended!
Marek Sofijman gives an account of the meeting with this year’s winner of the Golden Angel for artistic insolence:
The rebellious Wojciech Smarzowski at the Od Nowa Club
“I have always strived to make films that are both touching and provocative,” said Wojciech Smarzowski, during his meeting with the audience. “There would never be a good moment to make this film (“Hatred”), but it seemed important to make it now, while there are still survivors of those events.” The film-makers explicitly stated that it was important for him to show what people armed with lethal ideology were capable of. “I am generally scared of nationalism, be it the Ukrainian or the Polish one,” he said (read more >>) http://bit.ly/2e0j81T
Then, Dagmara Borkowska gives interesting account of the meeting with Agnieszka Smoczynska.
They were seduced with a siren’s song
A meeting with the author of “The Lure”
“The tails of mermaids in the film were made of silicone, sponges, and they weighed a lot, which was quite a challenge to our actresses,” explained Agnieszka Smoczynska, author of “The Lure”.
The rite of passage, a cross-genre, and an atmosphere similar to the one from dancing parties of the 1980s – these were the subjects discussed on the Sunday afternoon at the Cultural and Congress Centre Jordanki. (Read more >>) http://bit.ly/2ebQWoM
Ania Gamelska attended the meeting with the extraordinary protagonist from “Nauka chodzenia”.
He saw a man in another man. The meeting following the screening of “Nauka chodzenia”
Discussing imprisonment, jug, and the broadly-defined crime is neither easy, nor pleasant. Fortunately for you, Tofifest is far from observing the proprieties, and the screening of “Nauka chodzenia” is yet another proof that we like challenges. (Read more >>) http://bit.ly/2el3t7M
Beata Pozarycka has offered us a review of the première of the Egyptian “Clash” at Tofifest.
Get to know people's stories and do not make judgements – This could be a perfect summary of the concept behind the film.
Have you already seen “Clash”? This film will change your perspective on the politics of the Near East! A fresh review directly from the Polish première of the film at the 14th edition of the Tofifest International Film Festival.
Imagine that you need to spend many long hours with the stench of Molotov cocktails. Not particularly pleasant, is it? But we, Europeans, are lucky enough to have ample armchairs in elegant multiplexes, and we can go on a film journey. (read more >>) http://bit.ly/2eIamEo
