Première of the film ‘Unmoored’ in the Polonica section
The international coproduction ‘Unmoored’, featuring Anna Próchniak, Marta Żmuda Trzebiatowska and Andrzej Konopka, will have its premiere during this year’s edition of the festival, as part of the POLONICA section. For many years, this section has been dedicated to bringing to you some of the most interesting film projects featuring Polish artists.
In ‘Unmoored’, you will see the life of a well-known television presenter turning upside down. The woman is forced to stop her career in television that is just gaining momentum, when her husband faces serious accusations. The couple leaves the city behind, and try to get a grip on the new reality.
Featured in the Polonica section are also the following:
- The Zone of Interest, winner of two Academy Awards, in which we follow the story of a German SS officer and his family living just next door to a death camp;
- Joika, featuring Tomasz Kot and Borys Szyc, about the challenges faced by a very talented ballet dancer;
- Irena's Vow, based on true events, about a girl saving Jewish residents of a ghetto, during the Second World War;
- and Late Bloomers, about a relationship developing between two women, who share similar past experiences, despite a grate age difference.
Among guests of the festival, you will have a chance to meet: Anna Próchniak, Marta Żmuda Trzebiatowska, Caroline Ingvarsson, and Małgorzata Zajączkowska, and many others. It has been our long-time tradition that meetings with filmmakers and artists are always free for our festival audience.
A year, when The Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer, a brilliant film and a Polish co-production, is released, must definitely be a good and significant year. On the other hand, this film has made all the others look a bit too pale by comparison to it. We will do our best to prove that this is not necessarily true. As many times before, Tofifest is going to show you the most important films made as a co-production with Poland or featuring Polish actors and actresses. Alongside some of the films that have already been shown in Polish cinemas, one of the hottest additions to this year’s edition of the festival is surely the film ‘Unmoored’. It is already a famous Swedish film directed by Caroline Ingvarsson, featuring Anna Próchniak, Marta Żmuda Trzebiatowska, and Andrzej Konopka. The other is ‘Late Bloomers’ by Lisa Steen, a Hollywood production, featuring a magnificent performance by Małgorzata Zajączkowska, says Łukasz Maciejewski, the curator of the Polonica section at the Tofifest IFF.
