We present the BELLA WOMAN Golden Angel Award for a European Actress to those female artists, whose film work exemplifies temper and sensitivity. Together with TZMO S.A., our main sponsor and owner of the Bella brand, we give this award with an intention to honour young and multi-talented women of cinema. During this year’s edition of the festival, we are going to award the Golden Angel to Kamila Urzędowska, the lead actress in the latest film adaptation of the novel ‘The Peasants’. The actress is going to meet with the audience on 28th June, after the screening of the film.

Kamila Urzędowska is one of the most talented Polish actresses of the young generation. She has graduated from the Acting Department in Wrocław, which is a branch of the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków (AST). She found an inspiration to start an acting career, when watching stage plays at the Helena Modrzejewska National Old Theatre in Kraków. She also played in a number of stage plays in the school theatre, for example in ‘Siksy’ directed by Cezary Iber. Her début on the big screen came in the film ‘How I Became a Gangster. True Story’ directed by Maciej Kawulski (2019). A year later, she was cast in the film ‘25 Years of Innocence’ by Jan Holoubek (2020), and two years later, in 2022, in ‘Zołza’ by Tomasz Konecki.

A true turning point in her film career was the role of Jagna Paczesiówna in the film adaptation ‘The Peasants’ by DK Welchman and Hugh Welchman (2023), which brought her international recognition and accolade from audiences and film critics alike. During the opening weekend, over 141,000 people watched the film in cinemas, which guaranteed both artistic and commercial success. The film received numerous awards and nominations. It was also the Polish candidate for the Academy Awards. In recognition of her portrayal of the character from the novel by Władysław Reymont, Kamila Urzędowska was nominated for the Polish Film Award (The Eagles) in the categories Best Leading Female Role and Discovery of the Year. Kamila Urzędowska received the Chopard Loves Cinema Award and the ELLE Crystal Star, during the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. In 2024, she has also received the prestigious European Shooting Star Award, during the Berlin International Film Festival. This award is given to the most promising male and female actors of the young generation.
