Mati Diop was born in 1982, she lives and works in Paris. She directed her first short Last Night in 2004. She joined the Pavillon artistic laboratory of the Palais de Tokyo (Paris) in 2006 and the contemporary arts studio in Le Fresnoy in 2007. She directed her first documentary film 1000 Suns in 2008, homage to the filmmaker Djibril DIOP Mambéty, her uncle.
