John Shaft is a black private detective, who gets involved in the kidnapping case of the daughter of Bumpy Jonas, a local crime lord. The gangster wants Shaft to find the kidnapped girl, which turns out not to be easy, as the girl’s father has not heard from the kidnappers since. There is no evidence to lead to the people responsible for the kidnapping of the girl.
