10/23, 11:00 · Od Nowa – new hall
It is a mixture of unemployment and the Czech sense of humour. The place is Ostrava, and workers Karel, Vinco, Tomáš, and Milan have just lost their jobs, as their factory was sold to Western investors. The four friends decide not to give up, though, and try and find themselves in the new reality, in various ways. They manage to save up some money and use it to buy an old truck from their former employer. Unfortunately, the efforts to start their own business (purchase of antiques) fail miserably, and the initial optimism soon gives way to disappointment, although they know that anger or despair serve no purpose at all.
