Kola lives with his young wife Lila and teenage son Roma in a small town by the sea, in northern Russia. He has an old wooden house inherited from his father. Vadim Sheleviat, mayor of the town, who has a portrait of Vladimir Putin on the wall in his office, won a case in court against Kola, and intends to drive him out of his house. Dimitri, a friend and lawyer from Moscow comes to Kola’s aid, and he knows what to do to save his property. This is the beginning of their struggle with the corrupt structure of power, which is getting more and more aggressive. A brutal clique from the town makes Kola leave and his family is bereft in facing the merciless all-devouring Leviathan modern Russia turns out to be.
