The main protagonist is Charlie Koller, a man with double identity. Not many people know that Charlie is really Eduard Saroyan, a renowned pianist, who put his career on hold, after his wife had committed suicide, to raise his younger brother. Today, as Charlie Koller, Eduard barnstorms for clients in a second-rate pub. And this is in such a second-rate pub that we first meet our hero, as he is interrupted by his brother being chased by two men. Charlie/Eduard offers him a helping hand, which draws the attention of gangsters and they start following him.
