19 October, 19:15 · Od Nowa – large hall
The hero here is Antoine Doinel, who lives with his attractive mother and his stepfather, in a modest apartment on the outskirts of Paris. Antoine has some difficulty bearing the stifling atmosphere in his home. It is the same with his school, in which he is tormented by a strict teacher, who follows repressive methods of education. The rebellious boy talks his classmate and only friend into playing truant. Back in school, Antoine justifies his absence saying that his mother is dead. Soon the lie is exposed and his enraged father threatens him with serious consequences. The hero concludes that there is no point coming back home.
