This film lasts a little less than 20 minutes, but it marks the beginning of surrealist cinema. This picture is comprised of a number of loose fragments that have no relation to one another. The only thing they have in common is the intention to shock the audience. To this end, we see a man holding a cut hand attached to a piece of string, a close-up of an eye being cut with a razor, or two pianos inside which there are decomposing bodies of donkeys.
