Wadjda is 10 years old and she lives in Riyadh. She is considered to be a school rebel, since she wears sneakers covered with pen ornaments and prefers playing with boys. Her biggest dream is to have a bike, though. Unfortunately, it is forbidden for women to drive cars in Saudi Arabia, and little girls are not allowed to ride bicycles, as it is “dangerous” to their chastity. In order to get the money for the bike of her dreams and convince adults that she is a pious girl, Wadjda decides to participate in a Quran recitation competition.
