It will be yet another film feast at TOFIFEST addressed to night owls, which has been tailored particularly for those, who love cult films. This year, we are going to show „The Elephant Man” by David Lynch, which was nominated for Academy Awards in as many as five categories. It is definitely worth seeing, first and foremost, for the magnificent creations by Anthony Hopkins (Dr Frederick Treves)and John Hurt (John Merrick, the title Elephant Man).
We are also going to take on board of a ship that carries a strange substance, which will be used to create a bizarre sculpture... and all that will happen in Drawing Restraint 9 directed by American artist Matthew Barney. The soundtrack to the story happening on the borderline between dream and reality was composed by Björk, which guarantees a truly unique atmosphere.
The final proposition for our night owls is Donnie Darko (dir. by Richard Kelly), a story about a young boy living in the suburbs of Middlesex, who has precisely 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds, to save the world (or try to save it, at least). In that unique endeavour, he will be assisted by a new friend — a 2-metre tall rabbit, who goes by the name of Frank. Will the duo change the world's fate? Come to the cinema and see!
