The idea behind a series of concerts under the name Czesław Śpiewa Solo Act was created twelve years ago, when Czesław Mozil, an artist back then unknown to the general public, played and sung wherever he was offered an opportunity to do so. The purpose of travelling through small towns that are commonly referred to as “Second-rate Poland” was to popularise the music of a Polish-Danish music band called Czesław Śpiewa, and to present Mozil as an alternative musician, in front of wider audiences.
Czesław Śpiewa Solo Act is a combination of a monodrama, stand-up performance, and concert performed by one of the most popular modern artists ― Czesław Mozil. It is about Poland seen from the perspective of a double emigrant, who lives travelling between Denmark and Poland, and loves the absurdities of both countries, looking at everything with a sense of humour. These are stories from the life of Czesław, told with the help of his greatest hits performed live. It is a perverse, bitter-sweet, and very funny story about patriotism, emigration, and homeland, but also about the everyday life of this popular artist. What does it mean to be a success in Poland? How can you sit on the substitutes' bench and still score goals? Is being an alternative artists popular among chavs? It is sung. It is funny. It is touching. And still very relevant.
