It is the end of 1950s. Fabian (Maciej Stuhr), a war emigrant, a jazz trombone player, and an excellent dancer, returns from England. He decides to start a swing big band, in cooperation with a group of local freaks and amateur musicians. The popularity of the band grows quickly. Soon, Fabian meets Modesta (Natalia Rybicka), an intriguing woman, who quickly joins his band. They also become lovers. They are the “King and Queen of Swing”, two free birds, who live together and struggle with the difficult reality of the era. One day, Modesta disappears and the love story is spiced up with a spy game ― it is now a story about dreams and longing for the Western world.
