Hundreds of thousands of British and allied troops are surrounded by Germans. They are trapped on a beach, between the sea and the enemy, and must face the impossible. In the film, we look at it from the land, from the sea, and from the sky. RAF fighter planes fight the enemy right above the English Channel, in an effort to protect the helpless men on the ground. At the same time, hundreds of small boats with both military men and civilians on board, set for a desperate rescue mission, putting their own lives at risk and racing against the clock to save at least some of the trapped soldiers...
