In 1957, Ingmar Bergman made took his place in the pantheon of cinema with the premières of his two masterpieces: The Seventh Seal and Wild Strawberries. The film by Jane Magnusson, which premièred in Cannes, offers an insight into the life of the director at that decisive period. The portrait of Ingmar Bergman created by the director is definitely not just another monument to his glory ― all the prizes and renown he obviously deserves are overshadowed by his habitual lying, despotism, and egotism.
