Inner Voice is a creative portrayal of one of the most talented Polish opera singers of the young generation (1990), Jakub Józef Orliński. It is a story about the physicality of singing, about addiction to sound, and being in unity with oneself. Dancing is what helps him achieve this unity. breakdance has accompanied Jakub since he was a child, and he decided not to abandon it for the sake of singing in an opera. To the contrary, dancing has helped his body emit sound more efficiently, thus achieving the vocal range of a countertenor to sing parts intended for castratos. “I'm a musical instrument,” says Jakub, a boy whose life is entirely dedicated to his vocal cords. Everlasting journey, life in seclusion, and exhausting arias that consume several hours ― and that is not the only price he needs to pay for being the best.
