Touch Me Not is an ode to the human body and carnal desires, but above all a call to accept otherness. In her film, Adina Pintilie tests the therapeutic potential of touching, uncovering one’s body, and emotions, in which three protagonists accompany her. Each of the three stands in front of the camera to face the things that block, limit, or scare them. By observing their relations, Pintille asks questions about our definitions of “intimacy,” “beauty,” “relations,” or “desire.” In the time when our bodies may be an area of an ideological battle, nakedness becomes a manifesto of freedom.
