The Passion of Joan of Arc is a silent film made by the Danish cinema master Carl Theodor Dreyer. The whole drama takes place in a single day, during which we see Joan of Arc (Maria Falconetti) put on trial. As if in an ancient tragedy, the director keeps the unity of time, place, and action, depicting a dilemma tormenting the woman who must choose between her faith in God and her own life Whatever the decision, it will destroy her — she will either die or be condemned.
