It is the beginning of the 18th century. England is at war with France, but people at the royal court are preoccupied with duck races and pineapples appearing on the market. The throne is occupied by a frail Queen Anne and her close friend, Lady Sarah, who governs the country in her place. Showing dedication worthy of admiration, Lady Sarah also oversees the capricious and hot-blooded queen. When a new servant, Abigail, arrives at the royal court, she quickly bewitches Sarah. Lady Sarah takes the new girl under her wing, and Abigail seizes the opportunity to come back to her aristocratic roots...
