All dogs are well aware that their life is only meaningful, if there is a man or woman, who takes care of them and loves them. Sometimes one needs to run quite a distance to keep up with them, though. Bailey has a new task entrusted to him by his owner Ethan: the dog must take care of the man’s granddaughter CJ. The task seems to be simple, as long as the girl is small, although sometimes the dog needs to protect her with his own body against a frisky horse. As time goes by, CJ gets bigger and so does the challenge for Bailey, all the more so as the girl and her mother move to a big city, leaving the grandparents behind. Fortunately for Bailey, he has seen and lived through a lot, and knows something about people. This time, Bailey will have to help her beloved owner find a true love, make her dreams come true, but first and foremost reconcile the divided family. Bailey will have to walk away from her a number of times, only to return in a new version ― even as a female, on one occasion. For there is one thing he knows for sure: life in itself is complicated enough, so it's always better to keep together.
