In 1989, a group of stubborn, courageous, and independent girls created the first ever all-female crew to take part in the prestigious and extremely dangerous yacht race Whitbread Round the World Race (later renamed to the Volvo Ocean Race). Tracy Edwards, a rebel and a runaway from home, put them all on board the yacht “Maiden”. At the very start of her great sailing adventure all she could hear was “girls at sea means nothing but trouble” or “girls on a ship can only work in the kitchen”. Therefore, she had to face much more than just the dangerous force of nature ― disrespect and disdain. Documentary.
