The title protagonist is a smart 13-year-old boy from Belgium. While his peers spend their time on being happy-go-lucky, Ahmed invests his free time in studying the Quran, devout prayers, and conversations with a local imam. The man fans the flames of Jihad in the boy. After taking part in a dangerous incident, Ahmed ends up in a juvenile care and rehabilitation centre in the suburbs. Will a re-education programme and becoming friends with the daughter of the owners of the facility be enough to break through the wall of fundamentalism, intolerance, and aggression the boy has managed to build?
